a brief summary of the Audi V10 engines in 2010:
W17. (S6, S8). 5.2 liter FSI. Splitpin crankshaft, 4 valves /cylinder, wet sump. 435-450 HP
W17 HDZ (560-4, R8): 5.2 liter FSI, normal crankshaft, 4 valves / cylinder, dry sump, 525/560 HP
W17 Biturbo (RS6). 5.0 liter FSI, normal crankshaft, 4 valves / cylinder, dry sump, two turbochargers. 580 HP
These are built by Audi Hungary and designed by Audi Neckarsulm
There is NO Audi engine with 5 valves in production
Sant Agata builds only the V12

The 560-4 / R8 V10 share the basic architecture with the RS6. There is no link to the old 5.0 MPI (not FSI, see?) Gallardo.
The Gallardo 560-4 and the RS6 engines were designed at the same time, cause the directive was to design two engines for the cost of ~1.5.
Lamborghini has nothing to do with either of them. Lambo only buys the engines that Audi supplies to them (we build it, dyno it, and deliver it) Lambo only assembles it together with gearbox and into the car. Ask a Lambo employee...
